Early start and a 130
miles round trip driving through the beautiful Shropshire Hills, today I shall
be sorting out the Birch Trees & Day Lily’s. First, F P Matthews at Tenbury Wells in
Worceshire where, after 1 hour, a selection of the Birch is made but a return
visit will be necessary when they are in full leaf. The Birch (Betula Royal Frost) will attract attention;
I’ve never seen these in any show garden before.
Now onto Mynd Hardy Plants
which operate from an old walled garden in the middle of nowhere, Diddlebury. Spend equally as long with the proprietor
Mark Zenick but after much deliberation the varieties have been chosen.
Both
F P Matthews & Mynd Hardy Plants will look after these to ensure
perfection; it’s great to be in contact with such dedicated people. (Picture: Mark Zenick)
